Product Review: Acer 22″ Widescreen Monitor

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

AcerJust picked up a new 22″ widescreen to replace my aging 19″ standard aspect screen. What a difference! This model has two inputs, either DVI or VGA, ultimate compatibility.

I hooked it up with my 13″ BlackBook, no problem. I used an Apple mini dvi to dvi converter, plugged it in, calibrated the color, perfect.

Also, for the price, under $300, this monitor has amazing clarity, and a fantastic response time…5ms! Contrast ratio is 800:1. Not as good as 1000:1, but certainly better than my old ProView’s 500:1.

I highly recommend…that is, unless you can afford the 800 or so bucks for the Apple Cinema Display, which I cant. Donations kindly accepted, by the way.

Client requests site redesign, I deliver WordPress!!

Wp-2.0-Square-Button-TransAfter spending the better part of a week preparing various 50-70 field php forms, creating MySQL tables, and debugging, I finally got to make a real WordPress theme.

The client, a non-profit organization in Indianapolis, had requested a site redesign. And I agree, a redesign was essential. The old site was made using FrontPage, was completely static, and had the stale appearance of circa 1999 web pages.

After serious consideration of the client’s needs, I made the decision to use WordPress as my platform for the site.

Read the response from the folks over at Twitterrific…nearly immediate…to my first post about Twitter. My only complaint was the size of the text entry field, and like magic, they alerted me to the freshest beta that incorporates…wait for it…resizable text entry field! Fantastic!

Additionally, as a Mac user, I am very concerned about aesthetics…and Twitterrific most certainly fulfills my expectations for a “Mac app.”
