Nisus releases new software for word processing on the mac, Nisus Writer Pro

NisusproOver at The Unofficial Apple Weblog, Mat Lu writes a lil’ bit about the new app from Nisus: Nisus Writer Pro.

Their more established staple, Nisus Writer Express, has been my favorite for nearly a year. I have written many excellent papers (okay, well they looked excellent at least), and even converted my boss and a coworker to the app. (Yes, you’re welcome, again).

Being a huge proponent of Nisus Writer Express, I was instantly over on the download site and testing it out. Just reviewing the changelog, I see one huge feature: Floating Graphics!

I’ve been using tables to align everything in my docs, especially when trying to show a potential client examples of before and after web redesign work. No more. Now you can float images and have text wrap around it beautifully.

Additionally, I noticed the ability go generate a Table of Contents as well as the feature for document navigation via the TOC…a feature I find very useful for lengthy papers.

Of course, what drew me to Nisus in the first place was it’s excellent replacement of MS Word (ahem, bloatware), and it’s native support of RTF format. It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything that has had a compatibility issue with my Windows-using counterparts.

A more extensive review is on the way, but if you’d like to take a peek at it, head on over to the download page, getcha a beta copy to play with, and tell me what you think of it.
